Philidas have been designing and manufacturing fasteners for 70 years.
Philidas specialises in the design and manufacture of self-locking nuts for a huge range of industrial and domestic applications, including automotive, rail, aerospace, earthmoving plant equipment, mining, renewable energy and electrical appliances.
Philidas nuts lock on a bolt in any position, designed to create the most convenient and practical fastening method for any industry or domestic application. Even in high-performance environments where vibration may occur, our locking nuts are developed to stay in place. They also help reduce assembly time, use fewer components and are more cost-effective than alternative methods.
Philidas can also offer technical support on new or existing applications where their Technical team are required to work directly with the customers' application engineers at their site to offer new fastener design ideas to solve application problems.
Having such capabilities enables new products to be designed and developed in an optimum time scale.
PHILIDAS TURRET NUT
The Philidas Turret Nut, originally designed for the aircraft industry, is now available for commercial use and is often used within the rail industry.
The locking function is located in the turret (collared) section of the nut, which has two slots, one above the other, designed to depitch the bolt threads, providing lower prevailing torque and higher re-usability than the Philidas® Industrial type.
Unaffected by chemicals such as oil, petrol or other liquids and vapours and is suitable for use in high or low temperatures.
The Philidas Turret Nut is available in: ISO coarse, UNF, UNC, BA, BSF, AND BSW threads ( 2.5mm to 52mm, 4-40 (6BA) to 3 in).
Philidas Turret Nuts are available in steel grade 8 & 10 in various finishes and, also stainless steel.
PHILIDAS INDUSTRIAL NUT
A Philidas Industrial Nut is an all-metal locking hexagon nut designed to have a friction grip between the nut and bolt threads.
As the most versatile self-locking nut in the Philidas range, it is a popular choice for several industrial applications including Rail Network maintenance and automotive.
These Philidas Industrial Locknuts are an all-metal, one-piece nut with a collar hosted above the hexagon. It has two slots in the same plane cut in the collar and the metal about the slots is set to de-pitch the threads.
Suitable for use in high or low-temperature conditions and the locking performance is unaffected by oil, petrol and other liquids or vapours. A low prevailing torque can be applied on multiple occasions before it is no longer reusable.
The Philidas Industrial Nut is available in ISO coarse, UNF, UNC, BA, BSF, AND BSW threads ( 2.5mm to 52mm)
PHILIDAS MARK V NUT
The Philidas MKV Nut is a low-cost production all-metal self-locking nut which is most suited to high volume applications.
These locknuts are manufactured in steel Grade 8, 10, and 12 from M4 to M36. Sizes up to M16 can be cold-formed or bar turned dependent on the quantity and sizes.
The Philidas MKV Nut has a relatively high prevailing torque, which is obtained by two-point deforming for consistent characteristics across load-bearing threads. These nuts can be re-used.
Available as standard in M4 to M52 in Grade 8 and 10 steel
